We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that supported us in our first full year of FRiZZ biznizz!
As you can see from the pictures we celebrated in style…
I think some of the FRiZZ artists have still got their costumes on now…some definitely still have traces of eyeliner…
There are plenty more photos here, and there’ll be video clips following shortly for those that missed the chance to hear JOY JOSEPH’s inebriated take on ‘Last Christmas’…(cough)…
That wasn’t the only impromptu treat, we also had JJ’s daddy, calypso luminary ALEXANDER D GREAT, gracing the stage to duet with his daughter, OTTO FISCHER jamming with The Library on MR HUDSON’s ‘Anyone But Him’, and ART TERRY covering “Donny Hathaway’s greatest song” with Wilkie Wilkinson on drums…as well as the first live taste of my collaboration with OTTO FISCHER…
We’d like to thank Anna and all her lovely MATSU people for their hospitality, to Aisha Aslam and Ian Bines for documenting the madness (in costume!), and to everyone that came down to help celebrate…here’s to plenty more of that in 2010!
In other news FRiZZ is very much in the lab, with new recordings in progress from ART TERRY, OTTO FISCHER, AUGUST & JOY JOSEPH, plenty of video editing, and plans for a regular London based FRiZZ club night, and some out of town UK touring from various FRiZZ acts…
2009 we got FRiZZ well and truly off the ground…2010 is about spreading the word!

We’re celebrating our first full year of FRiZZ on December 23rd, with an Xmas FANCY DRESS Party, at MATSU Japanese Bar & Eatery (by Mile End tube station, London) – featuring an embarrassingly good line-up of FRiZZ acts playing live (ART TERRY, DAVID GARSIDE, LEILA ADU & OTTO FISCHER…JOY JOSEPH tbc…) + special guests + FRiZZ DJs
…and we’ve been teasing everyone all week to try and guess the fancy dress theme
…but no-one has got it right yet
…so we’re gonna have to tell you
…ready?
Ok then…
It’s very simple…
All you have to do is…
MAKE YOURSELF COMPLETELY UNRECOGNISABLE
That’s it.
…so the twist is, you don’t need to try to look like anyone or anything…as long as no-one can tell that it’s you!
So we’re hoping to see some serious theatrical make-up…masks…animal costumes…cross-dressing…and any other imaginative methods you can devise to conceal your true identity…
The best costumes will be immortalised on film, for use in a music video (for the AUGUST track ‘King Kong’)…so get digging in someone else’s wardrobe!

This week’s big news is the confirmation of our FRIZZ XMAS PARTY
We wanted to celebrate the end of the first full year of FRIZZ in style…so we’ve hired our favourite East London haunt, Matsu Japanese Restaurant (right by Mile End tube), and we’re planning something a little bit different…
Of course we’re hoping to have all or most of the FRIZZ acts playing live (with some one-off collaborations being plotted…), and predictably eclectic FRIZZ DJs…and some custom FRIZZ food specials that the restaurant are devising just for us (Christmas dinner Japanese style!)…but the really fun part is we’re also gonna have staff and customers in some serious fancy dress! …the theme for this will be unveiled soon…we’re enjoying teasing people a bit first…but rest assured it will be appropriately interesting!
So if you’re in London on December 23rd, come and celebrate with us…I guarantee it’ll be more fun than that Scrabble game with the in-laws…
The party isn’t the only reason to be in London in the run up to xmas, because you’ll also be able to catch a very rare full band appearance for LEILA ADU, with her unique & special London ensemble The DON’Ts (geddit…), at The Vortex… (you can book tickets online from the Vortex site, so why not make it an Xmas treat for someone?)
In other news, the JOY JOSEPH album recording sessions are going well…and we’ve been worked hard editing video footage from all the FRIZZ acts, ready for a flurry of visual activity early next year… In the meantime, check out DAVID GARSIDE’s version of ART TERRY’s song ‘Ruins’ here …and OTTO FISCHER playing an acoustic version of ‘The Gift’ on It’s All Good here (look out for his debut FRIZZ LP ‘Somersault’ coming soon!)
Enjoy…

Time to kick-off the new blog-style ‘FRIZZ news’ page…it’s the way forward…
Lots happening this week in FRIZZ world…
LEILA ADU was back in New York on Friday night to join the MuthaWit Orchestra for the URB ALT birthday tribute to Jimi Hendrix at the Galapagos Ballroom in Brooklyn. If you haven’t come across MuthaWit or URB ALT, take a look at their community site – www.urbalt.ning.com – lots of creativity going on over there…
Meanwhile, back in London, we’ve got an ART TERRY performance this coming Friday night (Dec 4th) at MATSU Japanese restaurant / photographers gallery in Mile End, to accompany the opening of Bob Dawson’s exhibition of photographs and paintings…come for a delicious Japanese meal, or just to catch Art’s set and enjoy the exhibition… …and we’ve got DAVID GARSIDE at the Icarus Club in Lewisham on Thursday 3rd, as well as hosting his fortnightly Stripped Back Sunday songwriters’ event, at MATSU again, on Sunday 6th…
Lots happening in the FRIZZ lab too…we’re plotting a vinyl release of OTTO FISCHER’s wonderful Somersault LP…and sessions for the JOY JOSEPH LP are getting underway…expect both around about Spring…along with new material from AUGUST & ART TERRY in the works…and a secret collaboration or two…
We’ve also put together a free FRIZZ sampler, by popular request, to spread the word of what we’re all about…download it here: http://www.mininova.org/tor/3189326 – feel free to pass that link on…but be quick, it’s not gonna be up for long…
